What to Bring
Here are the items you will most likely need:
- If it is your first class, it is very helpful if you register on our website before coming to class.
- Your favorite Yoga mat.
- Comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movements such as loose cotton pants and cotton t-shirt.
Optional items:
- A bottle of water. Only sealed sports water bottles are allowed and to be placed in the reception area. You may want to rehydrate yourself after class.
- A small towel.
- Some people feel more comfortable covering themselves during our final relaxation. Feel free to bring something light to cover yourself such as a shawl, think blanket or throw.
- If you have wrist problems, you could purchase wrist supports such a Cat Paws. We prefer that you refrain from using supports and build strength in your wrists. Your wrists may hurt during your first few classes and you may need to come out of a pose. This is completely normal and quite common, but should get much better over time.
- If you have trouble sitting on the floor, you may bring a small cushion to place under you. You may also use your towel or a block for this purpose.
What not to bring:
- No shoes are allowed in the classroom. You will practice bare feet. Socks, unless they are made for Yoga, can make standing postures difficult.
- Be sure your mobile phone is switched off or switched to silent mode, and left in the reception area.
- No jewelry should be worn during class because it can get in the way, restrict movements and may cause injury.
- No chewing gum. It can become dangerous, especially when practicing inversions.
- We recommend not eating a large meal closer to 1 - 2 hours before class.
- If you wear contact lenses or glasses, it is better to wear glasses, which can be removed and worn as necessary. It is better to do eye exercises without contact lenses. Eye exercises are done only during the first few classes of the beginner course.
Other reminders:
- Please refrain from talking during class, so as not to disturb the other students.
- Please be sure to bring your patience for the first few classes. First few classes may be a bit frustrating, especially if you have not thoroughly stretched in many years. It might take a few classes before you feel comfortable in the poses.
- It is very helpful to arrive for class at least 5 - 10 minutes before classes begin.
- If you have to leave before class ends, please exit the room before we start the final relaxation. It is also helpful if you let the teacher know before class begins that you will be leaving early.
Most importantly, enjoy the class!!!
